
Dr. Kumar S R
Dr. Kumar finished his Graduation (DCH) from JJMMC Davangere under the guidance of Dr M L Kulkarni, Dr Banapurmath, Dr Guruprasad. After completing the Graduation, he moved to Hyderabad for higher studies. He joined Rainbow children’s hospital as a DNB resident. He worked for 4 1/2 years. During his tenure as a DNB resident, he was trained in NICU and PICU managing sick children and neonates. Rainbow Children’s Hospital and Perinatal Centre, Hyderabad is a 250 bedded exclusively Paediatric super speciality hospital and major tertiary care referral centre with 40 neonatal ICU beds and 14 paediatric ICU beds. The hospital handles around 5,000 inpatients per annum. It has the state of the art intensive care setup in neonatology and paediatrics with facilities to ventilate 22 children including 10 neonates at a time and carries out high-frequency oscillatory ventilation and nitric oxide inhalation therapy regularly. It has a very well equipped transport unit to transport sick neonates and children.
He has been trained in Level III PICU.
Dr Kumar has been working in the field of Paediatrics from the past 10 years and Neonatology for 6 years. Currently, he is attached to HIMS & Mani Super Speciality Hospital as Chief Neonatologist.
He has good experience in managing sick newborns, Extreme premature babies, Asphyxiated babies, Septic babies, Cardiac and surgical neonates
He has a special interest in ventilated newborns including conventional and High-frequency ventilation. He has also dealt with sick babies with Persistent pulmonary hypertension requiring Inhaled nitric oxide.
He has also experience in Cooling in asphyxiated newborns.
He has experience in newborns with complex congenital heart disease and managing them preoperatively and postoperatively. He is involved with Paediatric surgical team handling a variety of diseases like Tracheoesophageal fistula, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, omphalocele, Gut malrotation etc.
- Attended deliveries of multiple gestations (triplets and quadruplets) as a part of the neonatal team and subsequently gained good experience in neonatal resuscitation and lifesaving procedures.
